Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No Do you support the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Yes Do you support a decrease in income taxes in order to balance the budget?
Yes Do you support a wealth tax in order to pay for public programs?
Income tax should be re-examined as a primary source of income for the federal government. I would re-introduce the FairTax bill that eliminated Income tax and replace it with a consumption tax on only new items, not used. It would be a high percentage, but if you stripped all the taxes needed to bring a product to market, and gave the consumer their FULL paycheck, things will balance out. There was also a pre-bate included in the bill in order to cover the minimal earners tax on new purchases. Learn more at https://fairtax.org/. This not a new idea. It has been discussed for over 20 years and at one point had over 60 co-signers in congress (from both legacy parties). It would immediately loosen the hurdles that multinational companies have with bringing manufacturing and hence jobs back to US soil. We would capture taxes from those who skirt the presently broken tax code. We would eliminate compliance which alone costs over $3 Billion in time. We could redirect the IRS agents to the INS where they could go after terrorists rather then terrorize American citizens.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals?
I suspect if we polled the American people on whether money should dominate politics, they would say NO. So we should reverse Citizens United and find a way to shorten election cycles with the elimination of Dark money donors.
No Do you support protecting government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
The best alternative is to quit waging proxy wars and playing role of global empire. We can bring troops home from many overseas bases, close them, and use the returning soldiers and the money we would have spent to repair our domestic infrastructure.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth (e.g. grants, tax incentives)?
Yes Do you support the federal government increasing funding for affordable housing programs?
No Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation?
Yes Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt?
Until we end welfare for corporations who can afford litigators and lobbyists, we can make college and trade schools FREE for anyone that wants to expand their education.
Yes Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls?
Add this: if an individual shows up at their proper polling place, with proper ID on election, they should be able to register and VOTE right in the spot. Election day itself should be a Holiday. Move it to replace Columbus Day and let's all go have a Bar-B-Que with our neighbors at the polls!
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal government allowing permits for drilling on public lands?
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation (e.g. red flag laws, boyfriend loopholes)?
Within reason. We cannot negate the second amendment.
Yes Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All?
Yes Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)?
Yes Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs?
We got sold a raw deal being unable to negotiate for prescription drugs. Especially since our tax dollars play a significant role in the R&D to develop cures. It is past time to break the stranglehold that the Big Industries (Oil, Pharma, Tech, Prisons, Health, Ag, Food, Weapons) and their lobby and litigation warchests exert on the operation of our government.
Yes Do you support increasing security along the southern US border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship, regardless of their immigration status?
No Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts?
No Do you support the US providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine?
No Do you generally support increased regulations on social media companies (e.g. Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.)?
We need a stronger commitment to the First Amendment Free Speech rights. It has been under assault for a long-time - with amped up assault occurring since the introduction of the so-called PATRIOT Act.
I have a whole platform of public policy pursuits on my website. But I am realistic that unless I catch lightning in a bottle, my chances of getting elected are slim. What we are asking the voters to do is to take a leap of faith. To exercise their power in detaching from the uni-party. Sure, there are slight ideological differences. But there are NO functional differences between team blue and team red when it comes to their beholdeness to AIPAC, the war machine, to the One Percenters. They simulate a struggle with one another over who will control the corporate machine of the One Percent and who will earn the good graces of their massive patronage network. The Big Two political parties actually spoil elections for us independents. By limiting electoral marketplace competition with their uni-party monopoly that excludes all outsiders - with an assist from Big Media who doesnt dare upset their gravy train of ad revenue - we provide alternatives to elevate the citizens voice above the mainstream media noise. We actively recruit and empower citizens to act, to engage in civic solutions, and to stand for political office - especially since one-half of all elections have only one name on the ballot. As voters, it would be beneficial to exercise the same dedication to being consumers of our political choices as we do when shopping for food, insurance, automobiles and appliances. Even learning a skill, we invest time to become doctors, lawyers, architects, electricians, mechanics. Yet we are perpetual amateurs regarding our method of selecting candidates. Once we are paying attention then it is not so much a focus on the candidate, but on the broader agenda. Before the primaries even start, citizens should gather in town meetings and develop their democracy agenda to present to candidates. We can make far better connections and have candidates actually address our issues to perhaps include energy, housing, and the economy that will shape the campaign rather than allow the media to constantly chase the hyper-partisan, socially divisive issues of the moment. It is rather sad that our voting currency now a days is Fear. Listen to the big party nominees and all you hear are conflict related terms we gotta fight; gonna be a bloodbath. Wouldnt it be nice if we focused our conversations on what we love about America? In a fair and open competitive marketplace, not only would we get higher quality candidates and ideas, but the collusion between the two legacy parties that block indies from participating in the debates, and even being permitted on the ballot would be considered an anti-trust violation. I advocate a 10-point national election reform platform that returns the power to the citizens. View the details on my website> BetterCandidates.org. The bottom line is we need to quit listening to one point of view that we get from the MSM that we align with. It is time to quit wasting our vote on either legacy party!

Vote Smart does not permit the use of its name or programs in any campaign activity, including advertising, debates, and speeches.
